Parents Give Back
The parents of Mila Reign are raising funds to host a 2nd annual Christmas dinner to thank the PICU staff who helped Mila and give back to the families of babies who are staying there. Most medical literature mentions only two types of GBS disease: early-onset and late-onset. However, GBS can also infect babies DURING pregnancy. Please click HERE to read about knowledge-based strategies to help protect unborn babies from group B strep.

September is Sepsis Awareness Month

In the United States, group B strep bacteria are the leading cause of sepsis
​ (the body's life-threatening response to infection) in a newborn’s first week of life.

​June 18-22 ~ GBSI will be exhibiting at the 31st ICM Triennial Congress in Toronto, Canada! This will be our first time exhibiting at this congress which represents and works to strengthen professional associations of midwives throughout the world. What an excellent opportunity to speak with attendees from 116 midwifery associations, representing 102 countries across every continent!

June 21-23 ~ GBSI board member Dr. James A McGregor – infectious disease specialist and retired OBGYN – will be presenting at the Stillbirth Summit 2017 . His topics include: “LESS BABY TORCHEZ, Behavioral Prevention of Congenital Infections,” presented on the 21st, and “Fathers’ Roles in Optimizing Reproductive Outcomes,” date/time to be announced.

September is Sepsis Awareness Month, sponsored by Sepsis Alliance, with September 13 declared World Sepsis Day by the Global Sepsis Alliance as sepsis (infection in the blood) is a worldwide health problem for people of all ages.

  • This is a recent picture taken at the 2nd European Spontaneous Preterm Birth Congress showing Dr. David Aronoff presenting his research on GBS infections. Dr. Aronoff directs a program on maternal-child health at Vanderbilt University and his own research interest is focused on GBS. His lab is trying to understand how GBS manages to cause infections during pregnancy. Many thanks to Dr. Aronoff and his lab team for their work to help prevent GBS disease in babies!
