After 5 years plus of trying for a baby and then having to go through fertility, finally conceiving through IUI in June 2103 we finally got our miracle baby.

On the 7th March 2014 , we welcomed our beautiful daughter Kyla Sian into the world.

Little did we know that our world was about to change forever & not in the way we had hoped, dreamed and planned for.

I was 41 weeks & 1 day into my pregnancy, all my scans where fine & everyone was happy with my baby girls progress, we came to the decision on the 6th March to try a stretch & sweep to see if this would kick start my labour, & it worked…straight away!

Me and my husband Layton where very happy and excited knowing my labour had begun (even though I was in agony 😉) and that our first baby would soon be in our arms.

My labour progressed quiet quickly, but there was nothing to worry about everything was ticking along, I had my water broken, was advised to get into the birthing pool as I had planned & 3 hours later at 4:10am I pushed my baby girl into the world.

That is something I will never forget, the love I felt when I turned around and saw my beautiful daughter in my midwifes arms blows me away to this day, its a love I had never felt and Kyla`s beauty took my breathe away. I`ll treasure that feeling forever, in those short seconds all I could think was WOW she is here my baby, my daughter, she is here.

But my baby was born with out a heartbeat, she didn't move nor cry, and our world fell apart right before our eyes. The team worked on Kyla and they revived her, she was alive & her heart was beating. But it was all too late, Kyla was transferred to NICU at Auckland city, and the team did everything possible to help Kyla.

16 hours after my baby was born, we had to make the hardest decision of our lives, we took our girl off life support and I held her close to my heart until she got her angel wings and left our world & stepped into heaven.

That day will be with me forever, my girl is my world, I love her so much, its hurts and I ache for her everyday. This journey is the hardest journey for me, Layton & our family, its a journey I wish for no one else to take.

But I know many people before me & after me, do & will walk this journey.

Awareness of GBS is so important!!
