TOMMY — UK
Born March 12, 2007

Early-onset

Mother's GSB Status:
Not tested
Gestational Age: 39 weeks
Age harmed: at birth

Tommy was born at 39 weeks following the loss of our daughter at 29 weeks the year before. My water broke 5 days before Tommy's birth. We were told that Tommy had no chance of survival and had severe cerebral palsy. Today he is nearly 2 and shows no signs of any disability, but the first 17 months were tough. The experience haunts me to this day.

We are now 25 weeks with another boy and I have tested positive for group B strep. I am worried senseless and constantly think about our baby dying again. We miss our daughter every day and the thought of it happening again is terrifying. We have since been told it was likely to be the cause of her death also.

This is a horrible thing and all women should be tested as standard for it. We always dreamed of a big family, but this little one will be our last as we can not put the family we have through the stress again. We thank God every day for keeping Tommy safe.
