At 36 weeks I tested negative for GBS. Unfortunately 3 weeks after the birth of my son he started having projectile vomiting, fever, and some change in his skin tone. We took him into the ER and the doctor passed it off as "Colic" because of my son's constant crying.
The next day he looked lifeless. We rushed him to see his Pediatrician who right off the back could tell that he was really sick. They took him to the ICU where they performed a spinal tap that came back positive for GBS. He was attached to an IV then later transferred to San Antonio where he received a pick line that ran from his arm to his heart where he received the rest of his antibiotics.
The doctors praised us saying that if we had waited any longer that our son could've died, so that it was good that we brought him in again for a second look. Sorry to say that the ER doctor did lose his job for his careless mistake for assuming that my son had colic and didn't run further tests, but, in the end, my son is a strong healthy boy who we love to death.
