My son was born by emergency C-section at 41 weeks. I had already tested positive for GBS and had received the intravenous antibiotics during labour.
Soon after birth, my son started having difficulty feeding and was screaming a lot. He became sweaty and had laboured breathing. At 15 hours old, the doctors took blood cultures which confirmed a serious infection. He had a lumbar puncture to rule out meningitis and a chest x-ray which confirmed he had pneumonia.
He spent a week in the special care baby unit, but returned home with me and is now a healthy 7 month old!
