What is a Rainbow Baby?
The term “rainbow baby” comes from the idea that something beautiful can happen as a result of a storm. In this analogy, the storm is a loss of a child and the rainbow is a baby following that experience. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean that the storm never happened or that people have recovered; it means that there is hope and that something beautiful and bright can emerge from a time of darkness.

After having a GBS-infected baby, subsequent pregnancies can often be filled with anxiety so GBSI has just started this story page in hopes that GBS parents who have gone on to have a healthy subsequent or “rainbow baby” after a baby infected by GBS, will share their experiences with GBS parents who are pregnant or thinking of trying again.

If you are a GBS parent of a “rainbow” baby, please SHARE YOUR STORY HERE to encourage others. Please include how you coped emotionally during that pregnancy through your rainbow baby's first few months of life as well as any steps you took to help ensure a healthy GBS-free baby.  Our email is [email protected] if you have any difficulties posting your story.

If you are a GBS parent who is having another baby or thinking of trying again, please click on the stories below.
