My husband had an affair while I was pregnant with my 19th pregnancy (our 3rd daughter). The woman had a reputation and didn't disappoint. I was tested for GBS and had a positive reading (didn't know about the affair--it was his best friend's wife and my good friend) for the first time in 10 years. I was shocked. The ob-gyn played it down and made it sound like no big deal. I was horrified after I had my daughter and found out that because of GBS her lungs aren't properly developed for her age. She's now five and still has pulmonary issues. It's so sad the lack of information I received. I did receive antibiotics prior to delivery but am disappointed that I wasn't better educated by the staff at my ob-gyn's office. I took their word that it wasn't serious. I make sure to tell everyone I know to get tested when they get pregnant. I also called the woman who gave it to me to inform her that her affair with my husband (my first test was negative and had been for all 18 of my other pregnancies prior to his affair) resulted in my daughter contracting this disease. She apologized I feel incredibly blessed that my daughter didn't have worse complications.
