BRADLEY — AUSTRALIA
Born April 8, 2007

Early-onset

Mother's GBS Status:
Tested positive
Gestational Age: Full-term
Age Harmed: Full-term

Hi,

I tested positive for group B strep when I was 28 weeks pregnant with my son via a urine sample. My water broke when I was 39.3 weeks. My husband and I went stright to hospital which is only 10 minutes away. We got there and I told them my water had broken and I needed antibiotics.

No one believed me that my water had broken. I was like, "Trust me, I know!" but knew they didn't believe me..... 3 hours later, "Yes, your water has broken." Anyway finally I was on antibiotics. My son was born 6 hours later, 7 pounds 2 ounces, nice and pink. We were waiting for him to cry, but he wasn't breathing. He was rushed to the special care unit. Bradley finally breathed on his own 12 minutes later.. Test after tests to find out what went wrong. He had an MRI and a spinal tap which showed he had 75 white blood cells. He was put on antibiotics for 10 days. Bradley came home on day 15.

Today Bradley is 2 years old and a very happy boy, although I still have many concerns. He sat up on his own at 9 months, but to this day has never crawled, he gets around by shuffling on his bum. He doesn't yet walk, although he wants to. We hold his hands and he just wants to take off, but he doesn't seem to have any balance. I recently had another MRI done on him, but the test came back clear with no signs of any brain damage.
